7th Grade Life Science
Objective: By the end of class, I will be able to distinguish between a trait developed from natural selection vs an acquired trait.
Warm up question (note - always answer in a complete sentence OR write the question and answer):
Vote: which is more important for survival - adaptations or acquired traits?
Plan:
- Review the warm up.
- Look at ancestry.com
- Teacher leads direct teaching on adaptation vs acquired traits (slides 44-46).
- Students get into groups to create a card game or board game based on evolution, natural selection, coevolution, camouflage, acquired traits, and/or mimicry.
Due in class: Warm up
Homework: NA (unless you need to complete proofs of practice)
Absent: Read the slides on natural selection (slides 44-46) to learn about adaptation vs acquired traits.

6th Grade Earth Science
Objective: By the end of class, I will be able to explain how the seasons on Earth are created/formed.
Warm up question (note - always answer in a complete sentence OR write the question and answer):
If we are going into springtime, why was it warmer in February than it is now?
Plan:
- Students use the PowerPoint to take notes on identifying the seasons based on the location and tilt of the Earth around the sun (slides 20-27).
- Once students are done with their notes, they should show the substitute their completed notes in order to get the next activity/task, which is #5 and #6 from this lab book.
- Finally, students who complete the lab book activity should get the article from Thursday and finish annotating it.
Due in class: Two lab book activities
Homework: NA (unless you need to complete proofs of practice)
Absent: Read through the Seasons PowerPoint, slides 20-27
