7th Grade Life Science
Objective: By the end of class, I will be able to compare/contrast relative dating vs absolute (radioisotope) dating.
Warm up question (note - always answer in a complete sentence OR write the question and answer):
You find a piece of pizza under your bed. You have no idea how long it's been there. How do you determine its age?
Plan:
- Cover slides 1-12 (up to radioactive decay) in the Evolution PowerPoint
- Students work on completing their own relative and numerical timeline
Due in class: Nothing- although the timeline can be used for a proof of practice! You can turn it in during class.
Homework: Timeline (if you don't finish in class)
Absent: Read through the Plan and complete what you can, as well as the Homework

Objective: By the end of class, I will be able to accurately describe how a thunderstorm or a tornado forms.
Warm up question (note - always answer in a complete sentence OR write the question and answer):
What are some differences between a thunderstorm, tornado, and hurricane?
Plan:
- Provide direct teaching from slides (31-49) in the PowerPoint
- Teacher demonstrates a "tornado"
- Students create a "recipe" for a tornado based on an article
Due in class: Nothing- although the recipe can be used for a proof of practice! You can turn it in before the test, either Thursday or Friday.
Homework: Recipe (if you don't finish in class)
Absent: Read through the Plan and complete what you can, as well as the Homework
