7th Grade Life Science
We reviewed and took notes on the six basic steps for mitosis. Then students did a gallery walk in order to connect the image of the cell with the phase in the process. Finally, students wrote down ways in which they could remember each of the phases. Due at the end of class: gallery walk page and phases page. Absent? Label the phases of mitosis on this page.
6th Grade Earth Science
I did a demonstration on available drinking water in the world. Then, we watched a video on water facts. Next, we read about the EPA's recommendations on how to conserve water. Students then completed a worksheet to help them process the information more fully. Finally, the class created a poster with each person writing one way in which they as an individual can work on conserving water. Due at the end of class: water conservation worksheet. Absent? Complete the water conservation worksheet. Also, students should have taken home their earthquake-proof houses supplies!
