7th Grade Life Science
"Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow and divide and to make needed materials."
We learned more about passive and active transport as they relate to cell processes and functions. Additionally, we started a lab where we combine yeast, flour, sugar, and water in different combinations to determine which one grows more.
If you want to try an easy bread recipe at home, this one from AllRecipes is delicious!
Homework? None
Absent? Write a hypothesis on what you think will happen in the lab if you use different types of flour, different temperatures of water, or different types of sugar.
6th Grade Earth Science
"Recognize that lithospheric plates constantly move and cause major geological events on the earth’s surface."
We studied the different types of plate movements (convergent, divergent, transform) and started the "Earthquake-Proof House" project. Students chose leaders and started creating their house designs.
Homework? Get materials you may need for the houses!
Absent? Coordinate with someone else in the class to see if you should bring anything on Wednesday.
